I have to brag. I’m feeling like a proud mother hen today. Two of my best gal-pals are taking the bar tomorrow. One of my friends just got the job she’s been holding out for for six months, another friend finally found work in the industry she wants to be in. One of our other friends works weekends just to do what she loves. They are all beautiful and talented and have sweet, loving hearts. It’s such a blissful thing to see the people you love succeed.

In my dressing room

As I’ve posted, I’m moving. It seems very far away (I haven’t packed) but it is actually fast approaching (two weeks). I found a sweet little bungalow in the downtown area of Fayetteville. It has a backyard and a porch swing and original wood floors. It’s rather small – the kitchen, the bathroom, the closets – but it will be just me living there with my puppies and visitors of course. Still, small bathroom & closet? What’s a fashion-conscious, jewelry-collecting, shoe-hoarder supposed to do? Light at the end of the tunnel: There is a second bedroom! I, without any hesitation, decided to make that room my dressing room. Aren’t those a lovely couple of words? It’s a small room, mind you, but I plan to make it as girly and artsy and feminine as possible. Can’t wait to post pics! For now, some inspiration…

Friday Loving

Good morning! The end of the week always brings a certain vigorous lust for life, if you will. I’m feeling enamored with the whole concept of the “weekend” even though I need to spend it packing and cleaning. Alas, I’m sure I’ll be able to fit in some pool time and DD-ing. Right now I’m…
Listening to Local Natives – cannot get enough, especially Shape Shifter, Stranger Things & Cubism Dream.

Craving pancakes…especially Blueberry Pancakes…

Loving my new mini George Foreman.

It’s freaking HOT

Why hello. This weather (lots of sun, no breeze, air condition lagging…) causes me to feel sleepy and lethargic. Wouldn’t it be more fun to be by a pool than at work? July is slipping by so quickly, soon it will be time for moving, birthday and finally MEXICO with my sweetheart!

Yummy

Lately, because of the diet, I’ve been thinking more about food and how much I appreciate it. How much of an event it can be and how I occasionally take it for granted or abuse it. Eating is such an adventure. There are so many natural fruits, veggies, spices to choose from and combine, it’s a shame when we waste our time on processed foods. Although, french fries are sometimes the ONLY thing I want. When the diet concludes (two more weeks!) I am going to make a conscious effort to take more care about what I put in my body. It’s always a worthwhile pursuit. Don’t you agree?

Lifestyle Lust: Mad Men
Mad Men has inspired The Huffington Post to theme an addition of “Let’s bring it back” with all the lost grandeur of the 60’s era that should return. On my list:
Men in hats

Martinis at lunch

Elaborate up-do’s

I’m all about some red lips at any time

Supper Club

Brooches

Three piece suits

Office bars

Horn-rimmed glasses

Dinner parties

Thankfully MM returns this Sunday! See the whole article and all the images here.
A Holiday

We booked a trip to the beach! My first holiday with my wonderful beau. I can’t wait to put my feet in the sand. Much to come about outfit preparation…

For now, I’m just giddy and smiling about a week off and lots of sun/kisses/relaxation.

Below is where we are going!

Monday, Monday…so good to me.

Twas a good weekend. My life change that I alluded to a couple of weeks ago was actually just a diet and a move. I sat through a wedding and didn’t eat a thing (cake is my weakness). I’ve lost 10lbs! I found a new house right downtown that is accepting of my puppies, plus it’s adorable.

I’m going to see Inception tonight. My beau and I are probably going to go on vacation. I’m feeling super lucky and excited. Hope your week started off real nice.

Kinda want balayage highlights. Thoughts?
Weekends, I prefer the weekends
Dressed to Impress

We all have those occasions where we know we will see and be seen by many. Some we admire, some who admire us, others we don’t care for and a select few that may not care for us. We go to these occasions with the knowledge that opinions will be formed about us and there’s nothing we can do to stop that, save not going. These are the type of events that inspire some of us to lose weight, chop our hair or simply buy a new dress. We require ourselves to look fierce at these affairs. We either look our best or we don’t go. So…what does that entail?

You can make a statement by staying simple. Simple is classic, classic is chic. But, it has to be done right. When you choose a simple sheath, you may seize the opportunity to showcase jewelry, shoes or make-up/hair. When you choose an elaborate or complex ensemble, your accessories must be toned down. You don’t want everyone at the party to know you’ve been planning your outfit for weeks. You want to look effortlessly chic, don’t you?

I have put together 9 options for such an event based on three pairs of shoes. I decided to start with shoes because I found a pair at Bakers, which comes in a plethora of colors and look quite similar to the Louboutins every it-girl is rocking these days. Case-in-point Diane Kruger.
On to the outfits…
1st Option – The shoes & dress make the statement: Blue suede shoes with Dress #1 in a different/bright shade of blue that is sure to impress. Pair with minimal jewelry (earrings), bright eyes and simple hair.

2nd Option – The dress makes the statement: Blue suede shoes with the girlyish Dress #2 should be accented with big hair and simple earrings.

3rd Option – The shoes make the statement: Blue suede shoes with Dress #3 should be paired with hair up (to accent the back) and statement earrings like these, these or these.

1st Option – The dress makes the statement: Blush Patent Shoes with Dress #1, sleek hair, perhaps a cuff or some bangles and of course…red lips.

2nd Option – Understated makes the statement: Blush Patent Shoes and Dress #2 with sweet accessories (like this necklace or these earrings) & soft hair.

3rd Option – The dress & the jewelry make the statement: Blush Patent Shoes with Dress #3 and bold earrings (like these, these or these).

1st Option – The dress makes the statement: Black Patent Shoes with Dress #1 and lots of jewels (this ring, this necklace and these earrings).

2nd Option – The whole look makes the statement: Black Patent Shoes and the glammed up Dress #2 only need a little more black & gold to be golden. Try earrings like these, these or these. *Side note* This is totally what I would wear to a party at Drew Brees’ house!

3rd Option – The dress makes the statement: Black Patent Shoes + Dress #3 will make everyone turn canary yellow with envy. Try with a headband, some poof at your crown and smoky eyes.

Where to find it:
Blue Suede: I saw the cyan dress, Hypnotic earrings, Scavenger Hunt dress, Edie Earrings, The Poise is back in town dress, Spectacular clip-ons, Painted Flower earrings. Animal print mesh earrings
Blush Patent: It’s getting haute in here dress, Laquered wings cuff, High polish bangle set, First dance dress, Herring-bow-ne necklace, Bead and Suede dusters, Aurora skies dress, Jeweled feathers earrings, Stone and dagger chandelier, Only room for one cowgirl earrings
Black Patent: Parade watching dress, Rock around the block ring, Future reflections necklace, Mixed media pleat drop earrings, Sweet little lines dress, For star-ters earrings, Tassel drop earrings, Stark raven mod earrings, Look on the sunny side dress, Woven satin headband
