My Wedding Inspirations

Today is April 27th. That means our wedding is exactly four months away. I hyperventilated a bit when I realized. In honor of that and of the royal wedding (of course) I thought I’d share some of my wedding inspirations. If Kate Middleton forsakes Queen Victoria’s jewels for flowers in her hair I will never forgive her.

Bridal Inspiration {Ties}

For our wedding, the guys are going to wear tuxes. Robert and I both love a classic tux. He wants to look as much like James Bond as possible…and I’m somehow totally ok with that. But, I can’t help perusing the ties and bowties that are out there and wondering if we shouldn’t customize it somehow. Maybe he could wear a solid black bowtie while the groomsmen wore a black bowtie with white polka dots? What do you guys think?

A sweet little piece of trivia about me: my grandma Susi was a fantastic seamstress. She would make a bowtie for my papa to go with every dress she had. Isn’t that lovely?

Click the ties for the source. I found an incredible website: The Tie Bar and they have a wealth of any sort of tie one might need. They are super affordable.

Fabulous Prep

Oh look, here is the rest of his head :)

As the weather warms and the flowers bloom, I find myself attracted to preppy classics. There’s just something so fresh about clean lines and bright colors. I’m not going so far as to tie a sweater around my neck but I do have a certain fondness for madras and seersucker. I tend to veer towards the Jackie Kennedy or Kathryn Hepburn version of prep rather than Lilly Pulitzer. How about you?

The Face of Mugler

Rick Genest for Mugler

You may recognize Rick Genest (aka Zombie boy) from Lady Gaga’s “Born this way” video. He is completely tattooed and gaining recognition in the fashion world. Nicola Formichetti selected him to be the face of Mugler and even paid his fines after it was revealed that he was homeless and sleeping on the street. I think he has a very interesting look and obviously brings out the tailoring in the proper suits. What do you think?

Are we going to the same place?

Whenever my beau and I go out, I always suggest that we look like “we’re going to the same place”. This doesn’t necessarily mean that we dress alike. It just means that we are in the same neighborhood. We both look like we’re going to the same party, instead of him looking like he’s going to a frat event and me looking like I’m going to a Mad Men-themed bash. I think Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson do an exceptional job of this. They never match, rarely coordinate but always look very much together (not to mention adorable). Case in point…

Diane Kruger Diane Kruger and long-term boyfriend Joshua Jackson are centre of attention as they leave West Hollywood's Katsuya restaurant. This outfit objective can be applied to any situation with anyone and it always makes you and your group (your beau, your friends) look very chic.
