Bedroom Eyes

On the rare Monday when I feel rested and refreshed, I am reminded of how integral and productive a good night’s rest can be. Everything in my life depends on sleep: my mood, my appetite, my health. It’s vitally important to have a bed that provides you with the best sleep you can have. It’s also lovely to have a bed you love to be in.

I prefer simplicity.

I am partial to white linens and coverlets – despite the puppies.

I love lots of blankets but a very cool room.

I’m partial to feminine.

I love mosquito nets and gauze.

And, I gravitate toward fluffy and soft.

Wanted: Bar Cart

Maybe it’s moving, maybe it’s Mad Men or maybe it’s just me but I really want a bar cart. I recently found the amazing site 1stDibs, as mentioned here. I don’t yet know how it works, exactly. I think you have to become a member to purchase anything, but it might be a worthwhile endeavor as they have a wealth of really cool furnishings and almost anything else you could possibly want.

Back to bar carts, I think  you could find something at a local thrift shop and fix it up. 1stDibs has so much in the form of bar carts that it’s nearly impossible to choose a favorite.

Weekending

For the first time this summer, I don’t have plans this weekend. I plan to take my puppy to the farmer’s market, visit a few thrift shops, catch up on sleep and maybe get some sun.

Feathering Your Nest

I’m in the process of finding a new home. I’ve been living with a wonderful friend for THREE years now. It doesn’t seem like that long, but it has been. I feel it’s time to feather my own nest. While the process of finding an attractive rental for me & wiggles & birdie is proving to be strenuous, I cannot wait to gussy up my new place.

I’m completely inspired by the following sites for house and home decor: Canvas, Horne , 1stDibs, CBell, Graham and Green, Ruby PlazaThe Well Appointed House Wisteria & Anthropologie

Below are some of my favorite finds.

Ch-ch-ch-changes

suicideblonde: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

I made a pretty big “personal life” decision yesterday and I’m pretty excited about it! I recently heard that people love change but they hate transition. It makes sense to me. You just have to have a dream to pull you through the transition to the other side.

Anyway, one thing I’ve realized is that shoes are the one thing you never grow out of (neither up nor out).

Overwhelmed!

This weekend, as wonderful as it was, was not enough to fully energize me for this week of work, changes, responsibilities.

Today, I’m listening to NPR’s best songs of 2010 thus far…

Long, Lingering Weekend

I hope your weekend is filled with sun, sleep, yummy food, champagne, fireworks, friends, romance and adventure.

Getaway Glamour

I was immediately enchanted by this tiny cottage. Who wouldn’t be?  Sandra Foster turned a Catskills hunting cabin into the romantic Victorian cottage she had always wanted, using vintage columns, flooring and wavy glass windows, and doing the carpentry herself.
