Inspired by the 40s

jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 56

I am currently inspired by the feminine silhouettes of the 1940s, the soft coifs, the bold lips, the high waist…re-imagined into a more modern replication. jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 57jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 58jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 59jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 60jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 61jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 62jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 63

What I Wore: On Point

(what i wore: skirt – vintage from potter’s house, top – tj maxx, heels – banana republic, necklace – vintage from mae’s, lips – cover girl lip perfection in siren)
I don’t know if pointy toe pumps ever really went out but either way, they’re back. They are such a feminine shape and they do wonders for the legs.

The Great White (Blouse)

One of the undeniable staples of a woman’s wardrobe is the white oxford. It’s a classic must-have and can be worn in an infinite amount of ways. I realized yesterday that I have 6…oops I don’t feel guilty.

What I Wore: Boxy Blazer

(what i wore: skinny jeans – lee from tj maxx, tshirt – walmart, strappy sandals – charles david, earrings – vintage from mae’s emporium, boxy blazer – vintage from cheap thrills also seen here)
I was pretty much obsessed with this outfit, it felt very 90s but also seasonally appropriate and fun. I whipped my hair back and forth all day!

What I Wore: All Tied Up

(what i wore: blouse – polo, bowtie – claire’s, earrings – forever21, leather skirt – unknown vintage from potter’s house, tights – dkny, platforms – nine west)
I found this gem of a leather skirt for (wait for it) $5 the other day. I decided to snazz it up with ruffles and bows. My husband told me I looked like a card dealer at a casino. He might be right…

What I Wore: Shades of Gray

(what i wore: skinny jeans – banana republic, Ro’s oxford – polo, booties – vince camuto)
I find it difficult to be adventurous with jeans. I want to be more so, but by the time Friday rolls around, I’m usually feeling lazy and restless. I know this look isn’t quite bold but it was comfortable and understated. In the fall/winter, I tend to borrow from husband’s closet more than usual…

What I Wore: Easy Dressing

(what i wore: dress – unknown, belt – banana republic, boots – forever21)
This dress is one of my go-tos for fall. It’s comfortable and billowy but also feminine.

What I Wore: Velvet

(what i wore: boots – ebay, tights – dkny, skirt – jcrew, t-shirt – walmart, velvet jacket – vintage)
Last Thursday, as the weather chilled, I busted out tights for the first time.

What I Wore: Clown Pants

(what i wore: pants – riffraff via cheap thrills, flats – gap, shirt – walmart – jacket – tj maxx, scarf – forever21)

Some days you just feel like wearing something that could pass as pajamas but is still appropriate for work. Even someone who adores clothes and the process of dressing needs to take a break once and a while. I feel that everyone should have an outfit that is extremely comfortable but still chic. This is my attempt at such.

What I Wore: Socks with Sandals

(what i wore: sweater dress – bcbg from daisy exchange, socks – forever21, heels – nine west, jacket – tj maxx, necklace – dillards)
How do you feel about the socks with sandals trend? I’ve discussed it before and while I don’t think I’m ready to try anything wild (at least at work) I’m really into it as a means of transitional dressing. I’ve always had trouble transitioning to cold weather. Fall is definitely here and you know what that means…
WINTER IS COMING…(off subject Game of Thrones reference)
