Weekend in Charleston Moodboard

One of my baby brothers is graduating from college! He has been living in the most preferable of situations. School in downtown Charleston, minutes from the beach. My mom, other brother and I are going early to spend a few days at Folly beach before the rest of the family comes in and we fete Hampton.

While trying to keep in mind the packing guides I found last week, I’ve got to plan several chic dinner ensembles & beach day looks. I’m thinking flowing dresses and big hair, stripes & denim cutoffs, bright lips.

Have a lovely week. I’ll be back may 14. xo

What I Wore: River Rat

what I wore: hat – italy vendor, blouse – thrifted, tube – target, shorts – old navy, sunglasses – asos, earrings/cuff – forever 21, rings – urban outfitters, beaded bracelet – a gift, lips – covergirl lip perfection in fairytale
I have always loved to dress on theme, whether on the high or low end of the spectrum. Some of my favorite occasions to dress for include music festivals, fairs and of course, the river. We went to the Mulberry this past weekend and I dressed for the occasion!

What I Wore: White Eyelet

what I wore: dress – vintage laura ashley from cheap thrills, heels – go jane, earrings – vintage from mae’s, watch – bcbg, bangle – kate spade
I love this dress. It has such a lovely fit. It’s also see-thru so you can wear a white slip underneath or black for a cold weather look (seen here). I’m also looking forward to wearing it over a swimsuit this summer. Excuse my photo-op location!

The shoe to wear with everything

dolce vita booties, $78 Shop Lola
I got these booties for my DC trip and literally wore them with everything from a mini dress to maxi dress to cargo skinnies. I’ve never owned a shoe I could/would wear with anything. I’m obsessed. Here’s one example.

(Packing for) A Weekend Getaway

Pinned Image

Today I’m leaving for a long weekend in Washington, DC. My bestie lives there and we are going to eat, shop and see live music. It’s always fun to pack for a weekend getaway but also a little nerve wracking because of the contributing factors. Will the weather be as forecast? Should I only carry on? Do I need clothes for rain? Will I be walking a lot? Which bag/s? I always lean toward over packing. There are inevitably several items I pack and don’t use. I’m a dress person, so I’m planning to wear pants & a blazer to travel, then bring my dresses.

Here are a couple of packing guides that I found helpful…

What I Wore: Peachy Keen

what I wore: dress & belt – vintage from grey dog, heels – kelsi dagger, collar – urban outfitters, earrings – kate spade, watch & bangle – asos, necklace – vintage

Sometimes an ensemble looks best without too much extra and other times it begs for accessories. This was one of those times. I love any excuse to utilize my rose gold and am always clamoring for more. All in all, a quintessential spring look.

What I Wore: White on White

what I wore: blazer – banana republic, dress – gianni bini, heels – jeffrey campbell, sunnies – gas station

I love a polished look. I thought the white sunnies and the white platforms added just the right amount of funk to an otherwise tailored look.

What I Wore: Cream Puff

what I wore: dress – impressions (seen here), blazer – antonio melani, heels – kelsi dagger, earrings – vintage from grey dog, bracelet – house of harlow (similar)
This is a dress for all seasons. In August, I wore it to my post-wedding brunch. In December, I wore it with black tights. I love shape, the color and of course the bow.  Paired with a muted plaid blazer and my new favorite earrings, I thought it proved its versatility.

What I Wore: Blue Ruffles

what I wore: dress – vintage from cheap thrills, belt – new york & co, booties – gianni bini, watch – bcbg, bangle – kate spade

This dress could go very Laura Ingalls Wilder without the right accoutrements but I really love it and with the right belt/shoes, it’s great for spring.

What I Wore: Tunic

what I wore: tunic – thrifted, cropped pants – asos, heels – banana republic, collar – (also seen here) a gift from cheap thrills, earrings – mom’s

The colors in this tunic were really fun. It was also comfortable and billowy which made it a really relaxed, easy outfit.
