It’s a beautiful time of year here in NW Arkansas. I will be the first to admit that I’m not a huge fan of cold weather. Layers stress me out. I’m already a bag lady – add coats, scarves, gloves, socks – it’s too much!

Beaver Lake

Long weekends are always wonderful. We went to the lake, out to dinner, to the pool and farmer’s market. It finally feels like summer!

I have always loved to dress on theme, whether on the high or low end of the spectrum. Some of my favorite occasions to dress for include music festivals, fairs and of course, the river. We went to the Mulberry this past weekend and I dressed for the occasion!

Last Friday at NWAFW, I wore a dress I’ve been dying to wear since I purchased it a few months ago. It’s gold/green/blue lame with sequins and a nude panel, so it’s not exactly the kind of thing you can wear out on a random night. My husband had to practically sew me into it (and rip me out!) but it was totally worth it. There was really no better place to don it than a fashion function and no less than one minute after I walked through the door, a girl asked if she could take my picture. Talk about validation!

I always have a lot of fun dressing for gameday (especially if our team wins). Rather than wear a team t-shirt and jeans, I like to take the color (red) and run with it!

It’s the first day of fall and it definitely feels like it in our neck of the woods. The thing about Arkansas is the weather is consistently erratic. While it was 40 last night, it’s supposed to be 80s tomorrow. It’s very hard to dress for! Every year around this time, I have to look for inspiration on how to look chic in cooler weather. Ok I know…the sun has just barely come out. In Arkansas, we can barely promise ourselves it won’t freeze again. But nothing has the ability to make me long for the beach like Anthropologie swimwear. As as been their moda operandi they have chosen feminine silhouettes and figure flattering shapes. I just might have to indulge for Positano! This collection is the only thing making me feel better about passing on a sub from the new Green Machine place in Fayetteville. I’ve heard it’s to die…
