White on White

I’ve always loved the look of an all-white ensemble. It’s so chic. My favorite version is Elin Kling, shown. A classic white tee and high-waisted white pants. Of course a white t-shirt is pretty easy to find ( little boys section at Target or Old Navy) but the perfect high waisted *white* pants are not.

I’ve scoured the internet for you and found several affordable options! Happy shopping!

Oscars 2011: Best Dressed & Other Thoughts

Michelle Williams in Chanel. She killed it. Best Dressed winner for me.

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Couture. Runner-up for me. So fashionable, she can wear whatever she likes.

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein. She looked like a bombshell. She wasn’t overdone. Her body looked beautiful but not overexposed.

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa. She’s adorable, age-appropriate and well spoken.

Other things I liked: Reese’s hair, Justin Timberlake’s Tom Ford Suit, Penelope’s post-baby boobs, Gwyneth’s white-blonde hair/white-blonde dress, Armie Hammer.

Reese Witherspoon - Oscars 2011 Red Carpet

Things I did not like: Sandra Bullock’s hair, ScarJo’s dress, Amy Adams’ necklace, Jennifer Hudson’s extremely light boobs, Kelly O’s lipstick, Guiliana’s burnished skincolor, Hathaway screaming “Woooo!” into the microphone.

The story from Vogue, below:

“Ana Meier, daughter of legendary architect Richard Meier, has inherited the minimalist gene. The 29-year-old furniture designer loves clean lines and everything white, which comes in handy at a wedding. On Saturday, Meier wed realtor Daniel Creighton, 30, at the Meier family home in East Hampton, New York, in what began in the early planning stages as “a little ceremony on the lawn,” but over the course of nine months assumed the proportions of a mini-blockbuster. In charge of overseeing every last detail of the proceedings was Meier’s father, who designed the Getty Center in Los Angeles and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, but joked that those projects and others of similarly iconic scope “were nothing compared to this wedding. It was quite an undertaking. Now I can get back to my work.”

The sun-dappled celebration unfolded gracefully as guests arrived at 4:00 p.m., greeted with punch, iced tea and a six-piece classical ensemble playing classic rock songs (Queen’s “Somebody To Love”). In a clearing between tall oak trees, the wedding party walked along the rolling green lawn to Pachelbel’s Canon. “It’s perfection,” noted Calvin Klein, a neighbor in East Hampton and a resident in a Meier building in New York’s West Village. “Ana’s dress is perfect in its simplicity.” Sipping sparkling water further up the lawn, the designer of said double-silk column dress, Francisco Costa, the creative director for womenswear at Calvin Klein, revealed that the bride considered three different whites—ivory, white, and optic white—before settling on the medium shade. “She knew exactly what she wanted,” Costa said. “It was a collaboration.” Translation: It took six fittings to get the scoop back, chain-stitch seams, and draping just right.

Cocktails and a family-style dinner for 250 were served in a Meier-designed clear tent hung with semi-sheer white linen fabric panels that softened the angles and created a flattering light. Guests, including Frank Stella, Carl Icahn, andSandy Gallin, sat at three long tables covered in Belgian linen, candles of different sizes, and local white flowers—Queen Anne’s lace, snow roses, and dahlias. After a dinner of lamb chops, chicken, and sweet Italian sausage, the best man gave a typically teasing speech. (“Ana, you have truly classed Daniel up a bit. I don’t think I’ve seen him in an Adidas tracksuit since he’s known you”) and a rousing cover band entertained with a set list that started things off with general crowd-pleasers (“Dancing in the Street”, “At Last”). As the evening progressed, Ana, now wearing a second Calvin Klein creation for the reception, this one an ivory silk-chiffon V-neck dress, and her guests danced into the night.” –Vogue

The CoverGirl/Diane Kruger Connection

Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere attended the Calvin Klein Beauty launch. There, the beautiful Diane Kruger (one of my beauty and style icons) told the crowd that she wears CoverGirl concealer! It warms the cockles of my heart to hear that.
