What I Wore: Lace Accents

what I wore: dress – vintage via grey dog, tights – target, booties – gianni bini, earrings – kate spade
Don’t you love the lace collar & cuffs? I thought this was such a fun wintery/autumnal dress. Grey Dog is such an asset to our little community

What I Wore: The 3 Generations Coat

what I wore: coat – vintage, top – bcbg, skirt – ann taylor, tights – target, (new) platforms – forever21, ring – vintage
The story on the coat is that it was my grandmother’s in the 40s. My mom acquired it and added the fur in the 70s. So, it truly is a family heirloom.

What would Kate Middleton do?

Most women I know have much respect for the newest princess. She’s incredibly lovely but in a girl next door sort of way. We had all been pulling for her to get a proposal for the past 5 years or so. She seems very warm and friendly and girlfriend has an impeccable figure.
So, let’s ask ourselves. In a situation any girl might face, what would the stunning royal do?
I want to wear a short dress but it’s too short/cold out. WWKD? Kate would opt for sheer panty hose. Duh. Knee-high black boots for more casual situations.
Gloucestershire wedding, Oct 2010Visit to St Andrews, Feb 2011Centrepoint visit, Dec 2011
It’s rainy or muddy. WWKD? Princess K would wear a hat and wellies, of course.
Sandringham, Dec 2011
I’m attending a premier/gala/red carpet. WWKD? The princess would no doubt wear her hair down and curled, a long designer confection with an hourglass figure flattering silhouette. Let’s not forget the princely accessory in a dapper tux.
Bafta gala, Hollywood, July 2011ARK Gala, June 2011
I want to look my best/something important is going on. WWKD? Turn to ISSA.
The engagement photocall, Nov 2010Royal tour of Canada, July 2011
The Boodles Boxing Ball, Jun 2008
I’m going to the wedding of a friend or relative. WWKD? Does it need to be said? Suit dress + hat/fascinator. EVERYTIME.
Zara Phillip's wedding, July 2011London wedding, Aug 2009Christmas Day, Sandringham, Dec 2011
I’ve got an incredible figure and it’s casual Friday. WWKD? Jeans my friend.

I’m on holiday at the beach. WWKD? Work out like a fiend, then white bikini – all the way.
My sister is really pretty and she’s always getting attention, people even say she looked better than I did at my wedding. WWKD? Stay mum, graciousness and grace always wins.

I’m getting married! WWKD? Follow tradition but not trends.

It seems like everyone I know and don’t know has suddenly put me under a crazy microscope. WWKD? Act like a lady. Stay in shape. Dress to flatter your figure. And most importantly, smile. (The happiest girls are always the prettiest girls.)

Blog Crush: 5 inch and up

I recently happened upon Sandra Hagelstam‘s extremely inspirational blog – 5 inch and up. Aside from her obvious love of heels, she is devastatingly beautiful, she has great taste and often features budget-friendly items. The Finnish beauty also includes readers in her new projects, travels and favorite finds. Check her out.

What I Wore: Color Pop

(what I wore: 80s motorcycle jacket – vintage from a garage sale, sweater – thakoon for target, necklace – vintage from mae’s heirlooms, skirt – bcbg, tights – hue, booties – asos)
I hope you had a wonderful holiday. I am struggling to come back to “real life” after such a lovely break.

What I Wore: Winter in the Tropics

(what I wore: dress – vintage from The Grey Dog, blazer – f21, tights – hue, pumps – jessica simpson, earrings – f21, tutu as slip – ebay, lips – covergirl outlast + lip perfection as seen here)
I love making summer dresses work in the winter. Sometimes the easiest way to do that is with a dress that has black in it. This tropical dress is so summery on it’s own but with the black tights and blazer, it works for winter as well.
Here is the dress from summer…

And today…

What I Wore: A tutu, among other things

(what I wore: blouse – vintage from potter’s house thrift, skirt – old navy, tutu – dance supply store, tights – hue, boots – aldo, jewelry – vintage and forever21)
Every time I put these thigh-high heeled boots on I feel a little like Hooker McCanIWearthistoWork. However, I believe they can be done in a ‘tasteful & edgy’ way instead of a ‘streetwalker – pretty woman’ way. Hopefully that was accomplished with this outfit. Either way, I didn’t get walked out by HR, so no matter.

What I Wore: Winter White

(what I wore: dress – impressions, tights – hue, booties – asos, earrings – kate spade)
This sweet little dress will forever remind me of my wedding. I wore it to our day-after brunch, where I promptly ate carbs for the first time in a month. That didn’t go over so well but anyway, all in all it was such a lovely experience where I was able to speak to so many loved ones that I didn’t have a chance to at our wedding. Alas, I digress. Here is how I wore it that day (with some of my sweet college friends).

What do you think? Does it work with the black tights? I am obsessed with the booties I have on but I think they may not work with this look. It might need more of a platform since the dress is a longer length and I am a shorty.
PS: the booties are $27 on asos.com right now!

When guys take it up a notch…

Girls notice. Promise you. Case in point: Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love. Yes he looked amazing, but more than that, I wanted his entire wardrobe for Ro. And he was on board! Attention to detail is something I think some guys have a hard time with. They don’t automatically think things like “should this jacket have a pocket square?” or “should I layer a sweater over this thermal?”. But oh what a difference it makes.

Boys, next time you dress to impress, ask yourself this question: What would Ryan wear?
