More from the beautiful backyard wedding

I must share these photos from the wedding in the delta, mentioned here and here. It was lovely and fun and seemed so effortless, although I’m sure it wasn’t! It all took place on Lake Chicot in Robert’s hometown of Lake Village. There are so many dying towns in South Arkansas but this doesn’t feel like one of them. The people are friendly, they know how to throw a party and they eat hella good.

Improving my space

I’m fixing to move. My gal-pal Lo, our combined three dogs and I are surfing craig’s list and stalking downtown Fayetteville for a new pad. Fenced backyard = must-have. I’ve got a lot of stuff in storage and so does she, my current living situation was basically furnished (all but bedroom) when I moved in. So, I’m DYING to make a space my own and make it stylish. Pooring over Lonny and Elle Decor and my favorite blogs has got me even more excited.

Do you know about West Elm? Do you wonder why I don’t know about West Elm? Thanks to Lonny, I’ve noticed they have some really awesome things and amaze prices. I’ve also been perusing Z Gallerie, IKEA, crate&barrel and would love to share some of the things I’d like to include in our new place.

I’m going to aim for a courtyard like this…

I’ll need a room to house all my books, quite like this one.

Our living room will need to look something like this

Def going to copy the dark blue walls idea for the dining room.

And my bathroom will have to look like this.

From West Elm I definitely need this bar cart, diagonal rug, mirrored coffee table and leather tufted headboard.

From Z Gallerie I need this dresser, this chandelier, this floor mirror, the elephant painting and some new champagne flutes with which to toast!

We’ll probably need this Spartan Daybed from Restoration Hardware for our relaxation out of doors, and I’ll need the soaking tub because – just because.

Nothing completes a room like a dog

With puppies on the brain, I thoroughly enjoyed this article (again from Elle Decor) on Dog Decor. These rooms and dogs are beautiful. What would these rooms/people be without their pets?

This one reminds me of my dear Wiggles and how he LOVES to sleep in my bed. Dachshunds have this crazy compulsion to burrow. It makes for a great foot warmer.

I love this one too. The dog looks like he’s waiting for his beloved owner to return to him.

You can barely find the papillon amidst all that’s going on in this room.

This one resonates. Look at all the beautiful shoes! The pug is guarding them…

Mirrors & Reflection

Mirrors reflect light and make rooms look bigger and better. I read an article on the Elle Decor site about Decorating with Mirrors. They really are the best things to use when you’re not sure what to put somewhere. Here are a few of my favorites:

Your local flea markets and garage sales often have mirrors just begging to be shined up and placed in your home. Ebay has a great selection of antique mirrors.

Remember, anyone can decorate with mirrors.

Lighting

Again with the daily distraction from my baby Birdie who is not in recovery mode yet…

I got to thinking about lighting. Literally and metaphorically, light is integral to our lives. Sunlight, light conversation, candle light, light that enables us to see, lighting in our favorite rooms…which is what I’m focused on today. I’m enchanted by chandeliers. All kinds and in every room. My ultimate obsession right now is an artichoke chandelier, which I happened upon while perusing the new Elle Decor site (love!). Below it’s hanging in a gorgeous white Boston kitchen.

This one is only $609! Artichoke Pendant Lamp Modern Pendant Light Artichoke Chandelier

Anyway, chandeliers don’t have to be fancy or even expensive. Overstock shows us gorgeous chandeliers for around $100.

This one could go anywhere

This one would be perfect over a vanity

I like this one on either side of the bed in a modern bedroom?

I adore this one over a dining room table, second entrance or bed?

How cool is this one? It could be in an office, kid’s bedroom or what about front porch?

I like this one over a claw-foot bathtub.

Brushed Nickel Marble Wash Glass 9-light Chandelier

This one is so interesting. I see it in a lounge or men’s bath.

Atomique Cognac Glass 6-light Chandelier

This one is probably my favorite. I can’t wait to find a house with the right room for this chandelier….probably a sun-room, don’t you think?

Eclectic loveliness

My favorite and my best introduced me today to April’s issue of Elle Decor.

These rooms are totally my style and they get me all hopped up on decorating my own home one day. When will that day be? I love the idea of having books and photographs on display, of making a space look lived in but not cluttered. gagnere-interior-decorating-ideas-ED0410-02.jpggagnere-interior-decorating-ideas-ED0410-03.jpgInterior-Decorating-ideas-ED0310_Rakieten_06.jpgInterior-Decorating-ideas-ED0310_Rakieten_12.jpgInterior-Decorating-ideas-ED0310_Rakieten_14.jpgThis closet? duh.Interior-Decorating-ideas-ED0310_Rakieten_13.jpgInterior-Decorating-ideas-ED0310_Rakieten_11.jpg

I was also introduced to zinio, where one can peruse magazines digitally.

While we’re on the subject. I’ve always and forever wanted a claw-foot bathtub. I’m a bath snob. I love them but I want them to be perfect, I want just the right tub, bubble bath, temperature, mood music etc. or I’ll just shower. Thanks to The (lovely) City Sage , I found these bathtubs. I would most certainly bathe in these.090202_lrb_6733MainvMainFavorite: Main-1Main-3
