Inspired by the 40s

I am currently inspired by the feminine silhouettes of the 1940s, the soft coifs, the bold lips, the high waist…re-imagined into a more modern replication. jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 57jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 58jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 59jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 60jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 61jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 62jalouse 2011 octobre (dragged) 63

A Gaggle of Girls

Pinned Image

I believe women dress for other women 95% of the time. Don’t you? There are rare occasions where we need/want/seek a male’s approval, but they’re pretty few and far between. That’s mostly because most of the men in our lives, namely love interests, aren’t quite adept at fashion or what is ‘in’ (for women) – and let’s face it do we really want them to be?
This is a wee dedication to girls everywhere that are rocking it out on the streets looking fabulous.

What I Wore: Socks with Sandals

(what i wore: sweater dress – bcbg from daisy exchange, socks – forever21, heels – nine west, jacket – tj maxx, necklace – dillards)
How do you feel about the socks with sandals trend? I’ve discussed it before and while I don’t think I’m ready to try anything wild (at least at work) I’m really into it as a means of transitional dressing. I’ve always had trouble transitioning to cold weather. Fall is definitely here and you know what that means…
WINTER IS COMING…(off subject Game of Thrones reference)

What I Wore: Dress/Boots/Argyle

(what i wore: dress – vintage from the Samaritan shop, boots – Brekelles from ebay, socks – claire’s)
I’ve been super excited to wear these boots I bought on ebay a few weeks ago. They’re the perfect height and heel for longwear and protection from the winter elements. But…they are so wide on top, it’s ideal for leggings but not dresses. So, I thought paired with socks they looked a lot more fun. I’ve had a lot of trouble finding above-the-knee socks, do you know where to find?

What I Wore: The Best Sweater

(what i wore: sweater – vintage from potter’s house, shift – banana republic, croc booties – gianni bini, earrings – forever21, rings – forever21 and vintage)

This vintage sweater, complete with sparkles and shoulder pads was $1.50 at a slightly scary little thrift store called Potter’s house. I’m obsessed with it. It’s a delightful color and goes with plenty, plus I get a strange and heady high from this good a bargain.

What I Wore: Trench

what i wore: trench – tj maxx, dress – vintage from grey dog, pumps – forever 21, “just married” necklace – kate spade, earrings – charm & chain
One basic that every girl should have in her closet is a classic trench. This is mine.

What I Wore: She’s a Lady

(what i wore: dress – vintage from trendy mindy’s, heels – steve madden, ring – vintage from cheap thrills, earrings – kate spade)

I went into this little consignment store called Trendy Mindy’s a few weeks ago. They happened to have a load of vintage dresses in exactly (if not a little smaller than) my size! This dress has TULLE SLEEVES! Isn’t it divine? This dress was $15.

What I Wore: Comfy-Cozy

what i wore: dress – unknown from daisy exchange, booties – vince camuto,
Isn’t it grand to find something that is soft and warm and comfortable while also work-appropriate? This dress does exactly that.

What I Wore: Animal Instinct

what i wore: dress – vintage from grey dog, wedges – banana republic, earrings – kate spade
