NWAFW: SOHO CLOTHIERS

I visited the new & improved SOHO Clothiers in Rogers to pick up a few transitional pieces just in time to look chic for Spring.

I chose the slouchy black & cream pant for it’s supreme versatility. Comfortable but still dressy, the trouser can be paired with virtually anything.

Look #2

Blazer - BB Dakota/SOHO Clothiers | Earrings - Grayling/SOHO Clothiers | Shift - Scarlet Clothing | Sunnies - Vintage/Grey Dog | Heels - Go Jane

I was immediately drawn to the BB Dakota embellished blazer. The sequins picked up whatever color they were near, making it a wear-with-everything staple. It also had a trim fit which gives it a continuity with the outfit rather than feeling like an add-on.

SOHO:

Leslie Claud Freeman and her family finalized the purchase of the Rogers shopping staple, Soho Clothiers on April 20th, 2013. After almost a year on the ownership side of retail, she’s as enthusiastic as ever. She speaks about SOHO with an air of gratitude, excited to see the store continue to grow, while still satisfying the existing customer base.

She hopes current and new shoppers will come see the “updated” shop. Shoppers have actually been her priority long before she bought the store. Leslie was an apparel studies major at the U of A and spent several years in the fashion industry – first at Mason’s, then at BCBG. Even in high school (yes, I remember!) she always dressed to impress and had the best hair.

When dressing herself, Leslie loves to be feminine but also comfortable. She likes an outfit (like a maxi dress) that takes her from low-key to dressy by the switch of a shoe or the addition of a blazer. But she admits, “nothing can beat a good pair of jeans”. Like most of us, Leslie is ready for spring. Drawing inspiration from magazines and stylish people everywhere, she’s stocked SOHO with color and prints. She’s especially looking forward to helping her customers find those transitional pieces (like the Ella Moss pant or the BB Dakota blazer I chose) to refresh their wardrobe. What I Wore: Blue Suede Shoes

what I wore: dress – isaac mizrahi for target (old – similar here, here, here ), blue suede heels – madden girl via tj maxx  similar here, here, here, earrings – vintage, ear cuff – claire’s (similar here)

I thought my favorite blue suede shoes would be perfect to pair with this ultra sweet and ladylike frock.

What I Wore: Anchors Away

what I wore: trousers – ralph lauren, top – forever21, heels – nine west, earrings – forever21, ear cuffs – claire’s, necklace/necklace as bracelet/pinkie ring – vintage from mae’s

I’m always a fan of dressing on theme, even when there’s no occasion. I couldn’t resist wearing this newly acquired anchor tee with my favorite high waist navy trousers.

What I Wore: Black & Blue

what I wore: blouse – ann chabrol, skirt – freeway, heels – gianni bini, earrings – mom’s

These are my “game of thrones” earrings. They look like little pirate swords and I plucked them from obscurity in my mom’s closet the other day. I’ve always been crazy about my mom’s jewels and have been lifting them from her for close to 16 years. Every time I look through her jewelry I find something I haven’t seen before – something I want… Luckily, she lets me borrow and borrows from me.

What I Wore: Business As Usual

what I wore: trousers – ralph lauren via tj maxx (seen here, here & here), oxford – thrifted ralph lauren, heels – gianni bini, earrings – charm & chain
These sailor pants took no time to become my favorite trousers. They create a flattering silhouette and are dressy enough for work but they’re navy so they can also be dressed down with a more casual top.

What I Wore: Cream Puff

what I wore: dress – impressions (seen here), blazer – antonio melani, heels – kelsi dagger, earrings – vintage from grey dog, bracelet – house of harlow (similar)
This is a dress for all seasons. In August, I wore it to my post-wedding brunch. In December, I wore it with black tights. I love shape, the color and of course the bow.  Paired with a muted plaid blazer and my new favorite earrings, I thought it proved its versatility.

What I Wore: Mellow Yellow

(What I Wore: blouse – cheap thrills, pants – old navy, platforms – bcbg girls, watch – bcbg, left hand ring – cheap thrills, right hand rings l to r – walmart/banana republic/vintage, bracelets – house of harlow from charm & chain/vintage/New Orleans flea market, necklaces – hook: kenneth jay lane, fish locket: tuleste market from charm & chain, earrings – gift from Ro: Kenneth Jay Lane via charm & chain)
Yesterday was one of those days where I felt like piling on all the jewelry I own. My beloved engagement ring is at the fabulous Lauray’s in Hot Springs, AR having it’s matching band created (an omg I’m getting married moment). Of course I had to pick up a bauble to replace it for the time being and decided to play with all the gold pieces I have been neglecting in favor of the simplicity of my diamond.
I also opted to pile my hair up. The big bun that I love is simple to do (instructions here) but the topknot is almost too easy. And I’m obsessed with these pants. I have them in yellow, white, khaki and brown; they are best when paired with a blousy top. They make your legs look ridiculously long because they’re so wide-leg and cover your shoes.

Bridal Baubles Inspiration (Something Blue)

The other day I was thinking, why not do your “something blue” in the form of jewelry? I’m not sure if that’s a popular idea but I am exploring it. Earrings or a bracelet in a blue hue could be divine and depending on your dress/accessories/atmosphere, could be as subtle or as attention-grabbing as you like. I’m probably not going to do a necklace but that could be beautiful as well.

This isn’t blue but I am slightly dying over it.
