It’s been very warm and wonderful in Arkansas and it’s starting to feel like summer. Here are a few trends I’m looking forward to trying during the glorious warm days.
It’s Spring, so it’s time to enjoy it. This weekend I’m off on a girls trip to Memphis & Mississippi. We’ll be cooking, eating, drinking and riding horses. I hope you have a lovely, warm weekend. Remember, happy is as happy does.
There’s nothing like pinterest to remind us all what we want and haven’t got. In the depths of January, despite our warmer than normal temperatures, I can’t get my mind off summer and pools and dream backyards with green grass. Typical. On Friday afternoons, my mind often wanders to what my plans would look like if it were May-August…
Suffice it to say, pool time would be on the agenda. These are a few of my favorite outdoor living scenes. Follow me on pinterest for more: http://pinterest.com/paytonvail
If you saw The Help, you know Viola Davis did a fantastic job but looked about 60. At the Globes, she looked fresh, young and rocked up. Most Impressive.
Danes
I usually like what Claire Danes wears (that might be because I adore her hubby, Hugh Dancy). But she does tend to play it safe. Her dress at the GG was nothing but fabulous.
Mara
Rooney Mara seems to have completely changed her personality, along with her looks for the role as Lisbeth Salander. Whatever she’s done, she looks gorgeous &she worked it in that gorgeous black gown.
Biel
A lot of people hated Jessica Biel’s lacy, cream confection. I was not one of them. I thought she looked darling and different. Plus, did you see her strut in that thing?
Well Played: Played it safe and it served them well.
Witherspoon, Vergara, Jolie, Kidman – all in figure-flattering silhouettes with great hair and makeup.
Unimpressed: Disappointed
Chastain
I’m really into Jessica Chastain. I keep routing for her but she continually disappoints me. I would rather have seen her in an outfit from The Help.
Kunis
Mila Kunis looked so great all last season. The glimpse of her nipple was the most exciting thing about this dismal dress.
Deschanel
I want to like Zooey Deschanel but I just can’t. And to quote the Eagles, I can’t tell you why. I can tell you I have no idea what she wore to the Globes because her hair was absolutely HORRIFYING.
I Expected More From
Portman
This is basically the first time we’ve seen Natalie on the red carpet in a year. The dress/hair are boring and she obviously has a great body… I’m disappointed.
Williams
I absolutely love Michelle Williams. Therefore, I think I hold her to a higher standard. I think she looks darling but I wish she looked phenomenal.
Winslet
Kate is another favorite of mine. I hate this dress, it doesn’t fit and certainly doesn’t do anything for her lovely figure.
Most women I know have much respect for the newest princess. She’s incredibly lovely but in a girl next door sort of way. We had all been pulling for her to get a proposal for the past 5 years or so. She seems very warm and friendly and girlfriend has an impeccable figure.
So, let’s ask ourselves. In a situation any girl might face, what would the stunning royal do?
I want to wear a short dress but it’s too short/cold out. WWKD? Kate would opt for sheer panty hose. Duh. Knee-high black boots for more casual situations.
It’s rainy or muddy. WWKD? Princess K would wear a hat and wellies, of course.
I’m attending a premier/gala/red carpet. WWKD? The princess would no doubt wear her hair down and curled, a long designer confection with an hourglass figure flattering silhouette. Let’s not forget the princely accessory in a dapper tux.
I want to look my best/something important is going on. WWKD? Turn to ISSA.
I’m going to the wedding of a friend or relative. WWKD? Does it need to be said? Suit dress + hat/fascinator. EVERYTIME.
I’ve got an incredible figure and it’s casual Friday. WWKD? Jeans my friend.
I’m on holiday at the beach. WWKD? Work out like a fiend, then white bikini – all the way.
My sister is really pretty and she’s always getting attention, people even say she looked better than I did at my wedding. WWKD? Stay mum, graciousness and grace always wins.
I’m getting married! WWKD? Follow tradition but not trends.
It seems like everyone I know and don’t know has suddenly put me under a crazy microscope. WWKD? Act like a lady. Stay in shape. Dress to flatter your figure. And most importantly, smile. (The happiest girls are always the prettiest girls.)
