The Collar Stands Alone

I have loved the detachable collar for a while now. Thankfully, it’s become something of a trend so you can find them at a variety of price ranges. It’s wearable art! This particular type of jewelry is a statement. It can be worn with the simplest of ensembles to take them up a notch. Which one is your favorite?

What I Wore: Complimentary Colors

(what i wore: blouse – vintage from potter’s house, skirt – banana republic, pumps – michael antonio, jewels – gifts & vintage) HAIR BY JENNI ASHFORD OF ULTRA SALON :)
I love wearing blue & navy or  pink & red (as in this case) together. I think it adds depth to an otherwise simple outfit. Do you feel the same?

What I Wore: Golden Girl

(what i wore: dress/belt/necklace – vintage, heels – gianni bini, earrings – kate spade, rings – forever21)
This dress is one of my favorite thrift store finds. It sortof looks brocade and is the nicest shade of marigold. Without a belt it’s a sack so a cinched waist takes it to the next level.

What I Wore: Lucky Charms

(what i wore: top – target, trousers – new york & co, bangle & shorter necklace – my grandma’s, cuff/long necklace/earrings/2 rings – forever21, first finger ring – banana republic, charm bracelet – a gift given me when I was very small)
I think that jewelry has a higher power. Whether it’s because of the story behind it, where you were when you found it, who gave it to you or how it makes you feel when you wear it. Occasionally, I like to make an outfit all about the accessories.

Looking Forward to Fall

Ok. Officially. It is too hot. I’ve given up hope that it will ever cool down. I’m thinking we will have to bring sweats and leggings to Italy where the high is a balmy 82 and the low is a frigid 60. If fall ever comes, here are a few things I look forward to wearing.

What I Wore: Prim & Proper

(what i wore: dress – forever21, pumps – forever21, rings – forever21, necklace – mom’s, earrings – kate spade)
I didn’t realize until I began this post that everything I’m wearing (save the earrings/necklace) is from Forever. Either way, F21 is a great place to experiment without spending a lot of money. The earrings  were a gift from my dear friend who just started working for Kate Spade. Of course, the high bun is an old standby and I loved pairing a double finger ring with another single ring. Speaking of rings, Ro’s wedding ring came in yesterday. Sh*t is getting real! Can’t wait!

Obsessed with this

A friend from work pointed this out to me. Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. designed “the bottle” which is inspired by Italian women who accessorize with fresh flowers. How chic is that?

What I Wore: Mellow Yellow

(What I Wore: blouse – cheap thrills, pants – old navy, platforms – bcbg girls, watch – bcbg, left hand ring – cheap thrills, right hand rings l to r – walmart/banana republic/vintage, bracelets – house of harlow from charm & chain/vintage/New Orleans flea market, necklaces – hook: kenneth jay lane, fish locket: tuleste market from charm & chain, earrings – gift from Ro: Kenneth Jay Lane via charm & chain)
Yesterday was one of those days where I felt like piling on all the jewelry I own. My beloved engagement ring is at the fabulous Lauray’s in Hot Springs, AR having it’s matching band created (an omg I’m getting married moment). Of course I had to pick up a bauble to replace it for the time being and decided to play with all the gold pieces I have been neglecting in favor of the simplicity of my diamond.
I also opted to pile my hair up. The big bun that I love is simple to do (instructions here) but the topknot is almost too easy. And I’m obsessed with these pants. I have them in yellow, white, khaki and brown; they are best when paired with a blousy top. They make your legs look ridiculously long because they’re so wide-leg and cover your shoes.
