Oil

The freaking oil that is destroying the marshlands of Louisiana and wreaking havoc on the people there is realllllly cramping my style. For some reason, it makes me want to go back there even more. Yesterday, I stumbled upon these gorgeous photos by the fabulous Jose Villa of a honeymoon in New Orleans. It is SO chic, SO romantic…you must see for yourself!

Check out Jose Villa’s blog here.

More from the beautiful backyard wedding

I must share these photos from the wedding in the delta, mentioned here and here. It was lovely and fun and seemed so effortless, although I’m sure it wasn’t! It all took place on Lake Chicot in Robert’s hometown of Lake Village. There are so many dying towns in South Arkansas but this doesn’t feel like one of them. The people are friendly, they know how to throw a party and they eat hella good.

Weekend Nostalgia

My mind is taking me to New Orleans today to fete with the festers at Jazzfest. Alas, I remain in Arkansas. In store for me this weekend? Cabin on the Buffalo river tonight and shrimp/crawfish boil tomorrow. So…I have to admit those are pretty good weekend plans.

I stumbled onto this photographer, Jose Villa’s blog today. Just look at this gorgeous “Honeymoon in New Orleans” – ahhh I die.

This is where I’ll actually be – Buffalo River

PS: Here’s a peek at my fat little puppy. We caught her with her paws (literally) in the cookie jar, gorging on her cousin Dwight’s – the mastiff- food. Below is the aftermath.

Happy Friday!

Dream House: New Orleans

One of the things I love most about New Orleans are the houses. All the homes, big or small, have their own unique flavor. I would pick up and move back in a heart beat for any of these beauties.

Do you know what it means?

I am missing New Orleans like crazy these days. It’s gotten cold again in AR after a few blissful days filled with above 50 temperatures. I miss the weather. I’ve followed the saints all season and they’re FINALLY going to the Superbowl! A first in franchise history! So proud, so proud. Like many New Orleanians, I’d rather be in NOLA during the game than Miami! Can you imagine Mardi Gras if they win?!?! I’m off work on 2/15, why aren’t I going?

I miss my friend Sara and her effortlessly chic loft overlooking Lee Circle. I miss cocktails at lunch. I miss Langensteins. I miss TCBY. I miss Audubon park and lazy afternoons. Hell, I even miss rainstorms! Mostly I miss the food and the general joie de vivre of the city itself.
