While I’m definitely not a minimalist when it comes to dressing, sometimes less really is more. My favorite way to do “bare bones” is definitely in black.

I’m always a fan of dressing on theme, even when there’s no occasion. I couldn’t resist wearing this newly acquired anchor tee with my favorite high waist navy trousers.
Hallelujah! I’ve been looking for pants like these for years. It’s difficult to find both high waist & wide leg in an affordable trouser. Maude Boutique in Fayetteville has done a great job with these and I can see myself wearing them way too often.
what I wore: pants – old navy, heels – FRH via tj maxx (see here), blouse & necklace- vintage, bracelet – a gift

When the temperature is over 100 there’s really not much I want to wear. I want to be a cool as possible. The best way I’ve found to do that is a) not get dressed or b) wear white. Since not getting dressed for work is typically frowned upon, white was the answer.
what I wore: top – lna via shop lola, trousers – the limited, belt/watch – forever 21, cuff – express, ring – hemline, necklace – urban outfitters, heels – miss me

Whenever I wear separates (which is not often) they have to be good. I don’t think I’ve ever thrown on chinos and a top. Since I’m honed in on dresses most of the time, it takes a lot for a pant to speak to me. Last night I dug deep in to the recesses of my closet, where I keep the pants that don’t fit and found these gems. I don’t remember buying them but they’re a great length and I love the belt loops that are large enough for a giant belt. Paired with a tank I bought on sale at Shop Lola and a few accessories – it’s one of my favorite ‘separates’ look.
I found these heels and knew they’d be perfect for the salmon colored ASOS trousers I’ve had for a year but haven’t worn. They are sooo long and I never actually get things hemmed (my love of heels stems from this laziness). I think they are the tallest I’ve ever worn, so I’m delightfully brimming on 5’9″.
what I wore: blouse – stephanie (thrifted), pants – cool collection, heels – gianni bini, watch – bcbg

I loved this little speckled blouse with the peter pan collar as soon as I spotted it at Potter’s House Thrift. At $2, it definitely came home with me!
what I wore: trench – marvin richards, trousers – ralph lauren (seen here, here), blouse – old navy, bowtie – little boy’s at target, necklace – kate spade, platforms – steve madden, jewels – gifts, vintage, charm & chain, bcbg

This outfit is the result of having entirely too much time to get ready. Yesterday morning I woke up at 4am and could not go back to sleep (rare occurrence). So I got up, showered and spent two hours leisurely getting ready, as there was nothing else to do. I like this outfit even though it’s a lot going on. I find that I like looks that either say a lot or say next to nothing. Sometimes you need 2 necklaces, 3 bangles and 6 rings to feel dressed, sometimes it feels like the fewer the better. I’ve been wearing a lot of blue lately. I think it’s nice to do a really feminine hair style with such a tailored look. I’m really excited about an upcoming collaboration. More details soon!
(what i wore: suit – vintage from cheap thrills, heels – charles david, earrings – mae’s emporium, pinky ring – forever21)

I realize that this suit looks quite blue in pictures but I assure you, it was very purple. And delicious. It was $15 at cheap thrills and I absolutely fell in love. Obviously, the jacket and skirt can be worn separately or together. I paired with straight-as-I-can-get hair and black strappy sandals.
