What I Wore: A Charming Mix

(what i wore: blouse – calvin klein, collar – urban outfitters, pants – old navy, platforms – bcbg, belt – vintage)

Yesterday I wore one of my favorite accessories: a lace collar necklace. I love, love, love the idea of detachable collars but find them hard to wear in reality. Even though they are so fun! Paired with a studded belt, I thought the look turned out nice.

This dress is one of my favorite thrift store finds. It sortof looks brocade and is the nicest shade of marigold. Without a belt it’s a sack so a cinched waist takes it to the next level.

I think that jewelry has a higher power. Whether it’s because of the story behind it, where you were when you found it, who gave it to you or how it makes you feel when you wear it. Occasionally, I like to make an outfit all about the accessories.

Friday I felt very patriotic. I love a good red lip. I’ve found that the best way to perfect it for someone like me – who gets it all over her teeth – is to do a base coat of a longwear. Ok. Officially. It is too hot. I’ve given up hope that it will ever cool down. I’m thinking we will have to bring sweats and leggings to Italy where the high is a balmy 82 and the low is a frigid 60. If fall ever comes, here are a few things I look forward to wearing.

Whenever I want to look nice for work, a wedding, a party, etc and I don’t feel like trying to figure out an outfit, I have a go-to. This particular dress can be dressed up or down and can even be paired with tights in the winter. Everyone needs a go-to dress for random occasions that call for dressy, flattering and easy.
