When People Stare…Just Smile

I am someone who tries (but does not always succeed) to be fashion-forward, I try outfits that I consider to be chic. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren’t but it’s the thought that counts, in my opinion. That’s how you develop your sense of style – by trying new things and standing out. Not everyone appreciates this. Some people will stare or laugh or point but that’s usually because they’re dressed in crocs and do not want or try to understand fashion. I appreciate all those that take pride in the way they look and I realize that most of us (myself included) cannot do it every day. If you are discovering your style and dress against the norm, just smile at those that look at you like you’re crazy. A smile is prettier than a frown anyway. xx

Kick Up or Kick Back

bottega-veneta-fall2010 via sac street

It’s Friday!! Kick up your heels or kick back and relax. I am definitely going to attempt to enjoy this (maybe) last weekend of temps above 80. A little sun, a little romance?

Fall Colors

She makes it look so easy! I’m having some trouble transitioning from Summer to Autumn (as said here). I love boots and coats but am not ready for trousers! I’m also realizing my dress collection feels too summery to be worn with tights. But I’m inspired, nonetheless. I hope you are too. Still on the hunt for affordable over-the-knee boots.

Basic Black

As someone who loves clothes, getting dressed and all-things-fashion…I still find myself confused as the colder weather moves in. I want my look to say “Fall” but I have trouble putting that look together. I tend to gravitate towards layers of black until I get my winter sea-legs, and really throughout the chilly months. You can’t go wrong with black and you can infuse the same outfit, time after time, with colorful shoes, scarves and jewels.

Oh So Dreamy

I’m hoping there are a few more sunny, warm occasions left for day-dresses and sun-kissed skin…

After all my wishing for Fall, I got hit in the face with it this weekend. No heat. I waited until it was 59 in the house to turn it on and when I did, nothing happened. Frown. I guess I’m not ready for Winter yet. And yet it comes…

On The Water

In Fayetteville, it’s bikes, blues and barbecue season. While I love the event for our small city’s economy. I don’t so much love living next door to all the ripping and roaring of the bikes. Today I’m rather wishing that my beau and I were going somewhere magical for the weekend, maybe sailing?

Monday Morning

Today I woke up to mind-numbing allergies. They catch me by surprise every time! But, my weekend was lovely, hope yours was too.

An Homage to White After Labor Day

wedding-gown-tumblr

Supposedly we are supposed to stash all things white from our wardrobes after Monday (save white button-downs or creams). While I agree there is no place for a full bright-white ensemble in 20-degree temperatures, I disagree that after Monday all whites should be shucked, packed and put away. I think my distaste for this “rule” comes from living in New Orleans for four years. There the weather can change on a dime and no one would mock you for wearing a chic white dress in mid-October if it were 75 and sunny (which it often is). While I am excited for Autumn, Summer is my favorite season and I plan to hang on to my white pieces a little longer…
