What I Wore: Prim & Proper

(what i wore: dress – forever21, pumps – forever21, rings – forever21, necklace – mom’s, earrings – kate spade)
I didn’t realize until I began this post that everything I’m wearing (save the earrings/necklace) is from Forever. Either way, F21 is a great place to experiment without spending a lot of money. The earrings  were a gift from my dear friend who just started working for Kate Spade. Of course, the high bun is an old standby and I loved pairing a double finger ring with another single ring. Speaking of rings, Ro’s wedding ring came in yesterday. Sh*t is getting real! Can’t wait!

From the Weekend

It was quite an eventful weekend. We got a cake sample for our wedding cake and it tasted as good as it looks. .
A new and exciting sponsorship opportunity from BeBop Clothing. I got some goodies in on Friday and couldn’t wait to try them on – more to come!
Karaoke with Ro, my brother Hampton & his brother William. I couldn’t stop myself from singing “Alone” by Heart but regretted it later…
Ro’s mom came up bearing gifts! Including the below four poster bed frame for our room & a dining table. I’m obsessed.
Some sweet friends threw a stock the bar party for us and it was incredibly lovely. Here’s a picture with my mom. (dress – vintage from the grey dog)

Spoils from the stock the bar. Planning this wedding has certainly shown me how many people love us. I feel very special.

I hope you had a lovely weekend!

Let them eat cake

Yes it’s seven weeks before the wedding and no I hadn’t even thought about the cake until recently. It’s not that I don’t love cake, believe me…I do. I just had left it out and waited until I knew how the budget was going to shake out. Anyway, in one of those serendipitous happenings that you always wish for when planning an event, I found a baker in my price range and we made a deal.
Here are my inspirations.

Love is all you need.

Today marks two months until the big day. Typically, that would seem like a long time to wait for anything, but in reference to our wedding it seems like mere minutes. I know it’s a while but I also know it will pass quickly and all of a sudden I’ll turn around and be walking down the aisle. This serves as a personal reminder to savor it and to stop eating ;)

On another note, I feel so privileged to be able to marry the person I love. It’s not a right that is afforded to everyone, although thankfully we are getting closer.

Maria Dueñas Jacobs Roman Wedding

Maria Dueñas Jacobs
Maria Dueñas Jacobs is the accessories editor at Glamour Magazine. She was featured on Into the Gloss this week and I was immediately drawn to her natural look and easy beauty routine. A quick google took me to her wedding which was featured on Martha Stewart’s website. So, duh, I had to share.

M is for Monogram

While I do have a few preppy tendencies, I wouldn’t consider myself or my style “preppy”. Why then am I tempted (attempting) to monogram everything from beer glasses to bed sheets?

Monogrammed DuraClear® Pitcher, Triple Initial

I’ll tell you why, because it’s adorable. Annnnd I might be a little excited about our monogram: PBR.

BIG News: If the shoe fits…

Dear friends, I’ve hit a big milestone in my bride-dom. I purchased shoes that I intend to wear with my wedding gown. Apparently the shoes you are going to wear on that day are imperative to the hemming process. Who would have thought? Now, I know you haven’t seen the actual dress but I will divulge that it’s white. wink wink.
What do we think? They were quite affordable ($109) compared to the Miu Miu’s I’ve been lusting after. And, don’t worry there’s a 60 day return policy in case the glitter actually looks like a kindergarten art project.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’m a shoe girl so I wanted something fun. I always wear heels, plus my intended is over a foot taller than I am so I never feel bad about wearing stilts. I figured out (when I wore flats to our engagement session) that I don’t look as small and fragile next to him as much as short and squatty.

Tahiti & Tulle

tahiti1

A gorgeous setting for white dresses, bronzed skin, the sun, the sand and of course tulle. I’ve become particularly fond of the floral wreath and it looks stunning with her dark hair.
