What I Wore: Mellow Yellow
(What I Wore: blouse – cheap thrills, pants – old navy, platforms – bcbg girls, watch – bcbg, left hand ring – cheap thrills, right hand rings l to r – walmart/banana republic/vintage, bracelets – house of harlow from charm & chain/vintage/New Orleans flea market, necklaces – hook: kenneth jay lane, fish locket: tuleste market from charm & chain, earrings – gift from Ro: Kenneth Jay Lane via charm & chain)
Yesterday was one of those days where I felt like piling on all the jewelry I own. My beloved engagement ring is at the fabulous Lauray’s in Hot Springs, AR having it’s matching band created (an omg I’m getting married moment). Of course I had to pick up a bauble to replace it for the time being and decided to play with all the gold pieces I have been neglecting in favor of the simplicity of my diamond.
I also opted to pile my hair up. The big bun that I love is simple to do (instructions here) but the topknot is almost too easy. And I’m obsessed with these pants. I have them in yellow, white, khaki and brown; they are best when paired with a blousy top. They make your legs look ridiculously long because they’re so wide-leg and cover your shoes.
Art Collecting (Viv Strauss)

I came across the art of Viv Strauss via A lovely being and immediately fell in love. I like everything about her work from the price to the color to the characters and I thought you would too. Check out her shop here.

What I Wore: Muted
M is for Monogram
While I do have a few preppy tendencies, I wouldn’t consider myself or my style “preppy”. Why then am I tempted (attempting) to monogram everything from beer glasses to bed sheets?
I’ll tell you why, because it’s adorable. Annnnd I might be a little excited about our monogram: PBR.

Plans for the Weekend
This weekend will be filled with sun, entertaining, celebrating, dinner reservations, errands and hopefully (as always) romance.

BIG News: If the shoe fits…
Dear friends, I’ve hit a big milestone in my bride-dom. I purchased shoes that I intend to wear with my wedding gown. Apparently the shoes you are going to wear on that day are imperative to the hemming process. Who would have thought? Now, I know you haven’t seen the actual dress but I will divulge that it’s white. wink wink.
What do we think? They were quite affordable ($109) compared to the Miu Miu’s I’ve been lusting after. And, don’t worry there’s a 60 day return policy in case the glitter actually looks like a kindergarten art project.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. I’m a shoe girl so I wanted something fun. I always wear heels, plus my intended is over a foot taller than I am so I never feel bad about wearing stilts. I figured out (when I wore flats to our engagement session) that I don’t look as small and fragile next to him as much as short and squatty.
Wedding Hair
My wedding day approaches. What to do with a mass of hair on the big day? I’ve had long hair forever and I want to make good use of it for my wedding. What do you like?
A sleek bun

MTV Award Fashion
Nothing blew me away. Sooo here’s what I felt like sharing. Red carpets have been so uninteresting lately, do you agree?
Chelsea Handler: I hate this dress. Am I being too harsh?
Bynes: Hanus. Too much. The extensions, the tightness, the make-up.
Leighton: I am just not into this. I feel like I’ve seen this dress everywhere.
Reese: Safe
I’m an Emma Watson fan but this dress does nothing for her. Except making her look like a gymnast.
I’m seriously tired of Cam wearing rompers/short shorts. You have amazing legs. We get it.
Jessica Szor: Hobby Lobby meets Brooklyn
Emma Stone seems to be doing a lot of good things style-wise. I’m also impressed by the fact that her hair seems to look good in every color.
Elle Fanning: age-appropriate, adorable
K-Stew: While I’m not loving the safety pins, I do think this is a welcome look from her. She’s slightly smiling. Her hair looks real. Her make-up isn’t toooo smoky.

Weekend Getaway Checklist
I thought this weekend getaway checklist from Daily Candy was too fun not to share.
For a summer weekend away, I would add a swimsuit, a pashmina and a pair of thongs. You could remove the cardigan and jacket depending on your destination.
