Jewelry Porn: My dream come true

I must admit, I’ve been infatuated before. I’ve had a crush. I’ve daydreamed and night-dreamed and thought about it before. But..I think I’m head over heels about this one. I’m talking about jewelry people!

stacks.jpg

These are estate diamond stacking bands from the Paris Hotel Boutique! {this is glamorous} is giving this one away… I die.

Look at how gorgeous they are!

After further research, they are actually affordable. Official, full-on, jewelry lust. Feast your eyes here.

I don’t think this one is meant to be stacked but it honestly looks like a steal at $345. Also, it’s a princess ring which I totes identify with.

Love stackable rings. These by iosselliani are beautiful and exotic, plus they’re expensive but not un-affordable. I noticed them first on {this is glamorous}. Check. It. Out.

And my fave

They also have gorgeous necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

8 Jewelry Must-Haves

“Put even the plainest woman in a fabulous piece of jewelry and unconsciously she will try to live up to it.” from Charm & Chain Blog

I loved this quote when I saw it! I immediately thought about making a list of jewelry essentials. Most women use jewelry to get dressed every morning, but I’m always surprised to hear someone say “I don’t think I could pull that off”. Yes you can! While I aspire to own some authentic baubles one day, I am currently enjoying costume jewelry. There are so many cool things…from vintage to forever21. Here are my must-haves.

Vintage Baubles & A Vehement Book Reco

Hello! I’ve been away at the beach as I mentioned here. It was lovely and I got a bit of a tan. But, it’s Monday and that means…back to work!

I discovered two noteworthy things while away.

1. I started and finished the most lovely novel: Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. We are reading it for my book club and once I realized the context in which it was written, I was blown away and couldn’t get enough. Nemirovsky writes of the mass exodus from Paris when the Nazis invaded with clarity and poise which is particularly intoxicating because she was writing it as it happened. She was murdered at Auschwitz in 1942 and the novel remained unknown until 2006, when it was published. Go here for the NYT review.

2. Some gorgeous vintage jewelry via Charleston Magazine.

I’m dying over this ring with the yellow topaz but can’t find it anywhere on the website of the jeweler, Joint Venture Jewelry. I did, however, find all of these gorgeous (and affordable) rings!

The magazine also featured Kwait Vintage Collection and I’m not sure what to do with myself!

I also found Croghan’s Jewel Box, Buckar and Skatell’s.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Vintage Bridal Loveliness

OMG. Leave it to DailyCandy to introduce the most wonderful things. As I’ve told you before, I’m fascinated (and always have been) by all things bridal. This site feeds right into that. The vintage bride has affordable and beautiful dresses from 1960 and before. It’s worth a check out and here’s a peek!

Yesterday, Daily Candy gave a 30% coupon for Maya Brenner‘s jewelry. She has a lot of celeb fans and her stuff is not outrageously priced. Not to mention it’s really cute!

Favorite Bangle Combo

Thanks to all who have been thinking of Birdie. She’s not worse, so we’re taking that as a good sign.

I wanted to share my favorite bangle combo of the moment. I’m wearing them today and have been for the past few weeks. The three green/gold bracelets are from a street vendor in San Francisco (@ Haight & Ashbury – had to), the watch is BCBG, bought on sale at Dillards two Christmases ago.

The studded gold bangle is a recent purchase from my fave Charm&Chain and I think they compliment each other so nicely that I’ve been wearing nothing but gold for a week.

My bf got me this cutie fortune cookie necklace from Charm and Chain and I’ve worn it everyday since I got it, with my bangles…of course.

Why put your future in jeopardy when buying jewelry?

Sometimes even the least self-serving girl makes demands about engagement rings that she would in no other instance. Small house, old car, discount shoes, thrift-shop duds, forever21 baubles…None of these matter as long as the sparkle on our left ring finger results in the periodic blindness of those around us.

On the the other hand, the poor blokes who love and adore us and want to please us to the point of ecstasy don’t necessarily have $30k set aside, and if they do, it’s probably not filed under “the love of my life’s engagement ring fund” (we can only dream) and say they do have a nest egg already, wouldn’t we rather it go toward our dream house?

Case in point. This is one of my (Fayetteville) dream homes, I qualify because I have many around town (the country…the world!)

And this is my dream ring:

Both make me swoon. Why would a besotted young lady in love want to sacrifice one for the other? My answer is two-fold. We should and yet we don’t have to. We forgo blinding everyone in our office/circle of friends/random party for now.  Let me explain! The ring above is and will always be my dream. Must I realize my most precious of dreams NOW at 24? I think not.

A while back I posted here about beautiful dream rings but ladies, I have other ideas. Women seem to be marrying younger and younger and the state of our U.S. economy is getting scarier and scarier. Why don’t we wait on our dream ring? Instead of our beaus taking 10 years to save for what “we” want or taking out a loan he doesn’t need, let’s compromise.

My proposal: Find a gorgeous cocktail ring you know you’ll love forever and wear that until you (or hubby) strike it rich and can provide you with what your heart desires. Keep pictures, most jewelers worth their snuff can re-create for you.
