Thrifting

I love shopping at thrift and vintage stores. There’s something so green and sustainable about reusing and making the old new again. I also enjoy the process of picking through the inventory and trying on (I realize not everyone does). Plus it’s a great way to experiment with trends without breaking the bank, since nearly everything that’s in now has been in before. One of my favorite things about shopping at a thrift shop, versus a vintage shop, is that they often don’t know the brands that have been donated. They just line-price everything, denim is denim etc. That’s where we benefit. For example, I got a vintage Oscar de la Renta blouse last night at Potter’s house thrift store for $2.92. I think one of the problems we have when shopping is we can’t visualize how an article of clothing will transform once we have it on, so we pass it by. You have to have an open mind and a little bit of time to find the diamonds in the rough, if you will. Sometimes I will try on 30 things to only find 3 that work. But when it works and it’s cheap, it’s so worth the extra time.

I also love this editorial set in a chic vintage shop. Enjoy!

I love. I don’t think the ombre hair trend is for me – at least not before the wedding – but I love it when it really works. Like in this picture. More of the hair here.

Outfit (Tuxedo Inspired)

Gooooood morning! I’m back in the gym, taking GPOYs and definitely not working out. Yesterday I wore a black & white ensemble that reminded me of a tuxedo and realized again how much I love trousers.

Well Done in Cannes

In France, people look better. I’ve been giving some scathing reviews lately, so I thought I’d point out the pretty people for once!

I’m a big Rachel McAdams fan. I love her look and I am always intrigued by her style choices. This LWD is lovely on her figure and manages not to wash her out. I am jealous that she can pull off the long-bangs-parted-in-the-middle look.

I’m sure this red number is more polarizing but I am really liking it. Her body is incredible and it’s DIFFERENT. Thank god for some variation on the Red Carpet. Do you like the visible seam going down her back? I kinda think I do…

OMG Uma! Where have you been? She looks absolutely gorgeous. Everything is completely spot-on (save maybe the slightly straggly hair). Women like Uma make me wish I was 5’10” and statuesque.

Salma & Angelina were notable.

Finally, she wasn’t at Cannes but I have to give credit where it’s due and I’m already in the process of writing this post. Rosie Victoria Secret-Transformers is a barbie doll come to life. It’s really no wonder that the menfolk voted her as the the “hottest woman in the world. I have to say, in this dress, I agree.

Too Much for a Rehearsal Dinner Dress?

I mean, honestly…

Sadie Dress by Jones and Jon**

I think, as long as it’s not sheer and there is double sided tape involved it could work. But I could be way off.

Either of these would  probably be safer…

I wore a dress with a train.

What I wore: Dress – TJ Maxx, Blazer – Vintage (also seen here), Heels – Michael Antonio

Oh hello…

Here I am, casually looking casual in the gym. Not working out but rather, using the mirrors to take pics of my outfit. I wore a dress from TJ Maxx that I’m slightly obsessed with. It’s a jersey/stretchy fabric in a tawny color. It’s totally comfy and it has this amazing train. I wear it way too often. The heels are also one of my favorite pairs. I picked them up at Shoe-nami on Magazine in New Orleans for like $12. I’m also working a bit of a tan. I laid out in my backyard for probably 30 minutes on Saturday and looked like a lobster for it. Thankfully, it’s finally died down a bit.

I will soon be posting pictures of the new digs!
