Wonderful Wednesday

Love this carefree look.

Hi! First night in new place! So exciting! I felt like I was playing house because it felt so surreal to have a place all my own.

I live dangerously close to an Italian restaurant (2 doors down). I’m afraid I will be running over there constantly!

Everything is still in disarray but arranging and decorating is the fun part, right?

I’m very much looking forward to having friends over, hosting dinner parties and utilizing my bar cart!

I can’t wait to share photos with you…

Lovely Lonny

New Lonny is out! Ahhh…just in time for me to decorate my house! The move-in has been pushed back because my landlord has offered to paint the whole house. I readily agreed. It NEEDED IT. Some inspiration from Lonny a la Elements of Style:

I’ll share some of my faves later.

Screening Process

In my new bungalow, I’m planning to use the second bedroom as a “dressing room” as posted here. For some reason, all of the closets are doorless, so I’d like to set up a screen to close off the closet and provide a little changing area. I’m envisioning Rachel McAdams in Sherlock Holmes (here is the scene). Of course, lovely mirrored screens, like those found on 1stdibs are a bit out of price range. So, I might have to settle for something less dramatic. I’ve found a few lovelies on overstock. Thoughts? The room is sortof black and red, I haven’t decided whether or not to paint but the screen would be on the black side.

1-3 & 6 are 1stdibs but the rest are overstock! I’m leaning towards the faux croc screens (4 & 12).

Running on Empty + Barcart Bliss

Between packing, moving, lease-signing and dieting as well as packing/moving boyfriend. I’ve managed to fit in my real job, a little daydreaming and the sporadic wish-list update for the new place. Last night, after I stripped my entire bathroom down, organized and filled two tall kitchen bags with trash…I was beat. Unfortunately, my mind didn’t exactly follow suite. I got about two hours of sleep (and a 3am bath). Needless to say, my wagon is dragging. But it’s still a super exciting time and the weekend is swiftly approaching.

PS: I got my dream bar cart yesterday at a lovely vintage mall that I’ve never been into before (why?). It’s called The Flying Dog and they have some really interesting and fun things. Umm bar cart was $35, I felt like I was robbing them! I also got a vintage cream croc clutch for $5. Below – the bar cart – in all it’s glory (in the store). It’s black, it has wheels and it folds.

Lucite Nesting Tables

I’m dying for these lucite nesting tables for my new house. Perfect for side tables or seating!

I also love this lucite coffee table with magazine rack.FAY-9948-Clear

In my dressing room

As I’ve posted, I’m moving. It seems very far away (I haven’t packed) but it is actually fast approaching (two weeks). I found a sweet little bungalow in the downtown area of Fayetteville. It has a backyard and a porch swing and original wood floors. It’s rather small – the kitchen, the bathroom, the closets – but it will be just me living there with my puppies and visitors of course. Still, small bathroom & closet? What’s a fashion-conscious, jewelry-collecting, shoe-hoarder supposed to do? Light at the end of the tunnel: There is a second bedroom! I, without any hesitation, decided to make that room my dressing room. Aren’t those a lovely couple of words? It’s a small room, mind you, but I plan to make it as girly and artsy and feminine as possible. Can’t wait to post pics! For now, some inspiration…

Wanted: Bar Cart

Maybe it’s moving, maybe it’s Mad Men or maybe it’s just me but I really want a bar cart. I recently found the amazing site 1stDibs, as mentioned here. I don’t yet know how it works, exactly. I think you have to become a member to purchase anything, but it might be a worthwhile endeavor as they have a wealth of really cool furnishings and almost anything else you could possibly want.

Back to bar carts, I think  you could find something at a local thrift shop and fix it up. 1stDibs has so much in the form of bar carts that it’s nearly impossible to choose a favorite.

Improving my space

I’m fixing to move. My gal-pal Lo, our combined three dogs and I are surfing craig’s list and stalking downtown Fayetteville for a new pad. Fenced backyard = must-have. I’ve got a lot of stuff in storage and so does she, my current living situation was basically furnished (all but bedroom) when I moved in. So, I’m DYING to make a space my own and make it stylish. Pooring over Lonny and Elle Decor and my favorite blogs has got me even more excited.

Do you know about West Elm? Do you wonder why I don’t know about West Elm? Thanks to Lonny, I’ve noticed they have some really awesome things and amaze prices. I’ve also been perusing Z Gallerie, IKEA, crate&barrel and would love to share some of the things I’d like to include in our new place.

I’m going to aim for a courtyard like this…

I’ll need a room to house all my books, quite like this one.

We’ll probably need this Spartan Daybed from Restoration Hardware for our relaxation out of doors, and I’ll need the soaking tub because – just because.
